This morning when I got off the train I noticed a homeless man at the entrance to the station. He didn’t say anything and everyone walked on as though he didn’t exist. I was one of those people.
As I dished out $3 for my skinny latte at the cafe next door, I couldn’t help but think about the man at the station. How long had he been on the streets? What was his story?
Before I knew it I was buying fruit and some toast at walking back to the station. I handed it to him with smile. “we all need breakfast.” I said.
He thanked me, looking completely perplexed that someone had spoken to him, let alone given him something more than a few cents tossed into the cap at his feet.
Sometimes we all need a stranger to turn our day around. No matter who you are or where you are in life, there is always going to be someone who cares about you. Don’t forget that.
“It’s beautiful when you find someone that is in love with your mind. Someone that wants to undress your conscience and make love to your thoughts. Someone that wants to watch you slowly take down all the walls you’ve built up around your mind and let them inside.”—(via ashleelyn)
